An overview of different types of trust, their intended purpose, tax strategy, unique administration issues such as funding and distributions.

Kristan Shepard, Esq.

Kristan is a partner in the firm. Her practice is devoted to probate and trust administration, conservatorships, and estate planning. She enjoys representing fiduciaries, professional, institutional, and non-professional. Kristan has led or contributed to presentations on fiduciary liability and estate planning. She has also published in California Trusts and Estates Quarterly, a scholarly journal. While attending law school, Kristan served on the California Western Law Review, received multiple American Jurisprudence Awards and worked as an extern for the California Court of Appeal. Kristan served as co­chair for the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate section of the San Diego County Bar and is a member of the Bench Bar Committee. Kristan has received numerous professional honors including being nominated as "Woman of the Year" by San Diego Magazine and designated a "Top Attorney" by the San Diego Daily Transcript, "Best of the Bar" by the San Diego Business Journal, and San Diego Super Lawyers.

Shannon Stein, Esq.

Shannon practices in the areas of probate and trust administration - including disputed matters, conservatorships, and personal and estate tax planning. A San Diego native, Shannon returned to the area for law school at California Western School of law. Beginning in law school, Shannon has focused exclusively in the area of trusts and estates. Shannon has served as chair for the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate section of the San Diego County Bar Association, and is a member of the Bench Bar Committee.
